- Take I-85 to US 321 north.
- Proceed north on US 321 thru Hickory, Lenoir
and Blowing Rock and into Boone.
- Once in Boone, NC, turn left onto NC highway
105. This is essentially a bypass of downtown Boone. It is the
major intersection in Boone i.e 5 lanes wide. There is a Wendy's
on one corner, Wachovia on another, Quality Inn on another
and Exxon gas station on another.
- Proceed on NC 105 about 4 miles until you
come to a stoplighted intersetion. The road is officially named
"105 By-Pass", but it is not well marked. So, look for signs
directing you towards US421 & US321.
Turn right (the only direction you can turn).
- Proceed on the 105 By-Pass until you come
to a tee intersection where you must turn either left or right.
Turn left. You will have just turned onto the joined routes of
US 421 and US 321.
- Continuing on US 421/US 321, the highway
will turn north. Stick with US 421 as US 321 will split off to
the left in Vilas, NC. In doing so, in about 5 miles you will
cross the NC/TN boarder. In about 10 miles from the boarder, you
will encounter the first stoplight since those of Boone. This
will be the "Shouns Crossroad" intersection. It is also the intersection
of US 421 and TN highway 167.
- Turn left onto TN 167. The sign will indicate
this is a southerly direction, but at this point it is really
more westward.
- Continue on TN 167 for about 2 miles. The
office will be on the left and the Maymead sign will be on the
right. Turn left into the driveway and you are there. It is a
white building with green roof. Welcome.
- From Charlotte, NC, the Maymead Corporate
offices are approximately 2 1/2 hours away.
